New Website! 7.30.10

I’ve been geeking out all week working on our website, and I’m pleased to announce that the moment has come and we just launched the new design. You can check out all the new features at SoundSemantics.com, and here’s a list of the highlights…
- Home page with news section, which means regular updates and show reminders for people who forget stuff (like me) or like exciting stuff (like me!)
- Clean navigation and a music player that stays open all the time while you explore our fancy new features, so you won’t have to listen to the first 10 seconds of every song all the time
- Press & testimonials section… so there’s someplace for us to put your kind words when you send them to us!
- A fancy contact form that is way more exciting in theory than in practice. Seriously, I know it looks simple and boring, but for lowly web-knowledge-bottom-dwellers like me, it’s a big deal.
Ok, I realize this might not be super exciting for everybody. So, in case this isn’t the greatest thing that’s happened to you all week, fear not. You’re about to be rewarded for your patience.
Here is a picture of Allie with a beard, and Eran in a dress. Talk amongst yourselves. (Thanks for the photo, Gina E!)
In other news, we’ve been working on some new material (including that “Cheer Up” song from our tour blogs, if you remember it). We’re trying to focus our sound a bit, and part of that is about listening to our listeners.. and understanding what people like. I guess half the process here is working on our strengths and expressing ourselves, and the other half is learning what actually communicates–what is well received by our listeners–so we can try to create a real connection with people. Nah’mean?
Next gig is this Sunday, August 1st. We’re playing on the third (and last) day of PDX Unplugged Summerfest 2010, an acoustic music festival based in the Hawthorne Theater and Lounge. Then we’re taking the rest of August “off” to write and figure out some of that listening/expressing/communicating/enjoying stuff. Oh, and also making a new music video. With cartoon versions of us. (Don’t worry, there won’t be cross dressing involved. I don’t think, anyway.)
That’s all for now! Happy August everybody,

Tour Blog – June 29-July 2 7.3.10

It’s been quite a ride, folks, and things have come to a rest. Well… just for a few days, anyway. Here’s the final installment of our tour blog, almost exactly 24 hours after we pulled up to the front door. Be sure to watch to the end to see a special new rendition of an existing song. New title: Rest Stop Serenade.
Thank you so much for joining us on our journey. We’ll be posting videos a little more regularly and keeping you up to date with what’s going on via the blog. But… first…. we’re going to take just a couple of days off. I (Allie) am on vacation until Tuesday and Eran is catching up on the reality we escaped from while on tour.
Until next time, happy 4th of July everybody, and we’ll write again soon!
